The HY5WS-17/50 Detachable Zinc Oxide Surge Arrester is a polymer-housed metal oxide arrester designed for 10–20kV overhead distribution networks. Its detachable construction allows the arrester unit to be removed more easily for inspection, maintenance, or replacement, helping simplify field servicing.

The arrester uses a gapless MOV core with effective surge energy absorption to protect distribution equipment from lightning and switching overvoltages. Its extended creepage design and silicone rubber housing provide good insulation performance in polluted and outdoor environments, while the hydrophobic surface helps resist moisture and contamination.
